I was born in Rochester, New York in 1959. I earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester (1981) and a Law degree (with high honors) from Syracuse University (1986). In between college and law school, I trained and worked in National Restaurant Chain Management. I earned my license to practice law in 1987. Click here for a list of my bar admissions.
I was associated with a Rochester law firm (now known as Boylan Code) where I concentrated my practice in litigation and residential real estate. My husband Steve and I relocated to Washington, DC where I worked as an attorney for the United States government and for a private law firm focused on commercial real estate.
Steve and I returned to Rochester in 1990. Shortly thereafter, our only child (Anne) was born. Until 1995, I operated a small part-time general law practice while happily being a “mostly-stay-at-home” mother and wife. I am proud of the way Steve and I have juggled our home and professional lives despite me living with Multiple Sclerosis.
What I do for Modica Law Firm
I manage the technical, business and personnel aspects of the Firm. I am thankful for technical advancements that have allowed me to conveniently work from our fully-integrated home office. I am proud of how we care and how we have grown, never losing touch with our family.
We have won multiple awards for our legal and community work. We are a “Best Law Firm in America” in Employment Law–Individuals. Click here for more information.
I have lived with Multiple Sclerosis since 1992. I am the proud recipient of the 2012 National Multiple Sclerosis Society Upstate NY Chapter’s “Professional on the Move” Award. Along with Steve, I was awarded the MS Society’s Norman Cohn Award in 2008. I remind myself daily that, while I have MS, “MS does NOT have me!”
I have been married to Steve for almost 30 years. We live in Spencerport with our dogs, Bella (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and Louie (Labrador). Our daughter, Anne Modica, is the center of our world and a recently admitted attorney who is a law clerk for Chief Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Western District. My non-law passions include my extensive collection of antique Fiesta Ware; gardening and holiday baking.
